STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- Club 106, a South Street business that was forced to padlock it doors in January after being flagged as a nuisance, is looking for a second chance.
Owner Derek Smith called together a meeting with city leaders and the Ohio Division of Liquor Control to see if he can get a liquor permit Monday.
“I believe that he needs a second chance,” said Delores Wiggins, president of Ohio Valley Black Caucus. “The reason for that is we have establishments in Steubenville where people have been killed. No one has got killed here. I feel like it should be across the board, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. He's done great things here in Steubenville. I think he's ready to move forward now and do the right thing.”
Club 106's legal troubles stem from a raid where police uncovered illegal sales of alcohol. Illegal guns and drugs were also recovered. A final decision was not made.
