DEVELOPING: Creegan Company Building continues to burn

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio---

As of 12:05 Thursday morning, the Creegan Company Building located at the intersection of Fifth and Washington streetsin Steubenville was still burning.

A NEWS9 crew arrived at the scene around 8 p.m. Wednesday. At that time, a number of fire crews wereworking to keep flames from spreading.

A nearby apartment building, The Washington Square apartments, was evacuated while crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

Officials tell NEWS9 the Creegan Company Building was vacant.

In the meantime, crews responded to a second fire located in the 600 block of Pine Street.

A family was occupying the house when the flames broke out. Everyone made it out of the house and no one was injured.

Regarding the Pine Street fire, no official ruling has been made, but NEWS9 was told at the scene that a stove was to blame.

Crews were able to get that fire under control.

The Red Cross was at the scene.

It is unclear if residents of the Washington Square apartments will be let back into their homes.

Several residents displaced by the fire will be put up by Froehlich's Classic Corner.
