JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio –An accident involving two cars forced traffic to one lane along Ohio 7 around 2 p.m. Friday.
Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said a truck traveling south on 7 just south of the Franklin Street exit lost both of its rear-dual tires on the driver’s side.
One of those tires jumped over the median and struck a car traveling in the northbound lane.
That car then went off of the right side of the roadway and into a ditch.
“Of course that's why you have to be aware when you're driving,” said Sgt. Robert Bodo of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. “You never know what is going to happen. This tire jumped the wall and struck the lady, and she never saw the tire coming.”
The driver of the car and the driver of the truck were not injured.
It is not clear what caused the wheels to fall off.
