Indian Creek School Board votes on 3 administrative positions

Updated: Thursday, June 19 2014, 11:31 PM EDT

The Indian Creek School District Board announced today their new superintendent, assistant superintendent and high school principal.

All three are familiar faces in the district, moving up from their current positions.

After several years with the district, current Superintendent John Rocchi is resigning from his position.

Current Assistant Superintendent Dr. T.C. Chappelear was chosen to assume the role of superintendent.

Chappelear said the biggest challenge will be moving the district forward and carrying on the positive vision that the district has had over the past several years.

“I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity,” Chappelear said. “I want to thank Mr. Rocchi, I think he’s done a super job, and I’ve had the chance to work with him for two years and watch him in the role of Superintendent.”

Current Indian Creek Middle School Principal John Belt was chosen as the assistant superintendent, which Belt said is bittersweet for him.

“It’s pretty exciting; I’m looking forward to the new challenge. It’s sad to be leaving this building because I was involved with this brand new facility and working with these teachers for the last six years,” Belt said.

High school Assistant Principal Dan Hartman is moving up to the principal position.

“Looking forward to all of the aspects of being a high school principal, working with Mr. Cowser, who is retiring, we worked well together, and I look forward to moving the district forward and the high school forward,” Hartman said.

Rocchi said the board made some good decisions and he wishes the best for Indian Creek as he moves onto a new district.

“The board looked at who within the system has put in the time, has the credentials, qualifications to move our district forward, to keep the vision for the school district alive and I believe they made some good choices in the individuals they’ve selected,” Rocchi said.

Rocchi said the board will have some other administrative positions open soon and will being interviewing for those positions in July.
