Jefferson County Fair Queen named

The 2013 Jefferson County Fair Queen was announced last Saturday as Kathryn V. Whinnery. The 2014 State of Ohio Fairs' Queen took place at the annual Ohio Fair Managers' Association (OFMA) Conference in Columbus.
In total, there were 69 girls that competed and Whinnery made it to the final five at first. After being crowned, her responsibilities include visiting as many county fairs as possible as well as select activities at the Ohio State Fair and OFMA-related events.
Kathryn, who is the 18-year-old daughter of Robert and Vickie Whinnery, are lifelong residents of Jefferson County and reside on their farm outside of Adena.
She is a 10-year member of the Windy Ridge 4-H Club. She is also a 4-H Camp Counselor a Jefferson County 4-H Junior Leader and a very active Jr. Fair Board member.
After graduating in May, she will attend the Ohio State University in Columbus and major in biological engineering through the College of Agriculture leading into medical school.
After this year, she is excited to pass the crown along to the next Fair Queen.
