JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH

A mine slip in southern Jefferson County caused trees to fall onto power lines and closed a section of County Road 17.

In a statement released by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, it says that no one was injured during the incident and that the landslide is still under investigation.

"ODNR inspectors are investigating an incident at the Pasco mining operation in Jefferson County. During construction at the location, a landslide knocked down several trees and power lines onto a nearby road. No one was injured in the incident.

ODNR has ordered the company to stabilize the slide and reclaim the area. Our investigation will continue," said Mark Bruce via email.

The landslide caused residents of the Rush Run and Smithfield area to be without power for hours while electric and environmental companies surveyed the scene.
