JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- The JB Green Team continues to go through a number of changes.
One of those changes is Mayor's Dominic Mucci's resignation from the team's board.
The Mayor said his phone rang all day after he resigned from the JB Green Team. And he said the calls were mostly because of the confusion surrounding his resignation.
Mucci said the reason he resigned is written in the pages of The Jefferson Belmont Regional Solid Waste Authority bylaws.
They include a section that states the city manager of Steubenville is the person who is to serve on the board of the JB Green Team.
"As everyone can recall, I was serving as the acting city manager from May of 2013 until the beginning of this year,” Mucci said. “I assumed those responsibilities on the JB Green Team under that capacity, and I continued to serve under that capacity with the appointment from the CEO Officer of the City of Steubenville until our new city manager was more aware and up to date on the projects."
Board position changes are not a concern for the JB Green Team.
Money is.
Many of its programs have been or will be cut because of continued budget restraints.
Solid Waste Authority officials proposed a $2 designation fee that residents of Steubenville would have to pay to help with its money woes, but it was opposed.
“The City of Steubenville is in opposition to the designation fee as it is known as of today,” Mucci said. “We will continue that opposition until we can put some value and accurate information together and then analyze it from there."
In the meantime, Mucci said the city council and the city administration are both looking at the resources they currently have to pay for the services of the JB Green Team.
