Moore Awarded the Thanks Badge II

Updated: Wednesday, April 16 2014, 11:21 AM EDT

Charleston, W.Va.  - During the 2014 Annual Meeting of the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council (GSBDC) on April 12 at the Marriott in Charleston, W.Va., Moore from Carrollton, Ohio, was awarded the prestigious Thanks Badge II for her outstanding leadership within the organization and her dedication to girls in Jefferson County, Ohio.

As a volunteer in her local area, Moore has provided a truly girl-centered experience for many under her leadership and serves as a role model for others. Her community and fundraising efforts have increased the visibility and public awareness of Girl Scouting, and have fostered many resources for the council, thus impacting girls, volunteers and staff.
Her leadership of outdoor program opportunities and advocating of Camp Giscowheco have assured that this type of programming will continue for future Girl Scouts throughout the council. The resident camp she helped organize has revived a type of traditional Girl Scout experience that had previously dwindled in participation but is now a council-wide opportunity promoted through the GSBDC magazine O.N.E.

The Thanks Badge II honors previous Thanks Badge award recipients who have continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role which resulted in a measurable impact benefiting the entire Girl Scout Movement.  A unique Girl Scouting perspective, this volunteer has been a girl, leader, adult volunteer and a board member. Her well rounded experience has proven to be an asset to Black Diamond.
