Pair allegedly attacks woman with baseball bats

Updated: Friday, June 27 2014, 06:16 PM EDT
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- Two people are behind bars after police say they brutally attacked a woman with baseball bats Thursday night at a cabin in New Somerset.
The victim's own husband and another woman are the accused attackers. The woman who was attacked was taken to the hospital and has been released, having suffered a concussion and severe bruises.
Deputies say they got a call for help from Davaina Taggart around 10 o'clock. She said her husband, Brian Taggart, who she is legally separated from, texted her and threatened to stop by her father’s cabin where she was staying with their 12-year old daughter and a group of friends.
Davaina told police her husband showed up at the cabin with his girlfriend, Yvonne Yost, both had two baseball bats in hand. That's when police say Taggart charged after a man who was on the porch with his wife.
Police say Yvonne ran on the porch and grabbed Davaina's phone. After that, police say Yvonne caught up to the victim and began hitting her with a bat.  When police got to the scene, they say both Taggart and his girlfriend smelled of alcohol.
Both were taken to the Jefferson County jail. They face charges that include domestic violence and assault.
