JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio --

A gravel spill that spanned 10 miles of State Route 7 on Wednesday morning has been cleaned up.

Officials are still looking into what type of truck was carrying the gravel and who owns it.

The truck hauling the gravel took the exit at Empire. Gravel from the truck continued up the road 10 miles and onto Route 152.

Officials believe that the latches vibrated and loosened around 10:30 a.m., causing the gravel to spill from the truck.

Traffic was not backed up and crews had the roads cleared in about 30 minutes.

Officials said they wanted to make sure that the highway was cleared as soon as possible so that no windshields were damaged.
