Update: Accident involving ODOT truck on State Route 7

JEFFERSON COUNTY --

Officials tell NEWS9 a car ran into the back of an ODOT truck around 8:30 a.m. north of Stratton on State Route 7.

Traffic was backed up for more than a mile, with a line of cars stretching a mile. Emergency crews were called to the scene and the driver of the car and two ODOT workers were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The truck was using a hot mix to repair potholes along the roadway when the car hit the truck. The two ODOT workers were injured while they were attempting to get out of the way of the oncoming car.

The driver had not been cited as of midday, but officials said it was a possiblity the driver could be cited with failure to stop in assured clear distance.
