JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio – A delivery driver who got out of his vehicle to check under his hood, was pinned against a brick wall when his car slipped out of gear Wednesday afternoon.

“He jumped out of the way,” Steubenville patrol officer Bob Shoemaker said. “Fortunately he wasn’t run over. He was pinned against (a brick wall). (The) vehicle continued driverless over the hillside.”

The officers called an ambulance, where the driver was transported to Trinity for treatment for leg and arm injuries.

Shoemaker was heading to the hospital to further the investigation.

“Luckily he jumped out away and didn’t get ran over,” Schoemaker said. “It may have been a fatality here.”
