JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio -- The postal service lost $1.9 billion in the last three months.
It’s obviously a big problem and the only way to solve this is by cutting down the service.
But are people ready for the post office to scale back?
Some residents said it wouldn’t affect them.
“It may (affect) other people but as far as for me, I don’t think it’s going to concern me too much,” resident Larry Sako said.
Others, who often make trips to the post office, think differently.
“It’s a service for everybody and it’s needed,” business owner Kevin Nichols said. “Yes it costs the government money, but look at all of the money the government just gives out. It employs people and gives them jobs. The post office is a good thing. We need it.”
The post office is used for many things such as getting passports, stamps and mailing out packages.
But postal officials have been asking lawmakers for comprehensive legislation that includes a different delivery schedule, solving personnel issues and more flexible pricing.
