BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio -- The 3rd annual Great Stone Viaduct Celebration will take place in Bellaire on Saturday. The event is held at Union Park and holds a great deal of history in the All-American village.
The Great Stone Viaduct Historical Education Society's main goal for the festival is to bring awareness to its cause -- to save an abandoned portion of the CXS Stone Viaduct in Bellaire that's on the national and state historical register.
"To make people aware of what was going on with our organizations and what our goals were, we started having celebrations and bringing in historians to talk about some of the history of the bridge," said Lillian Siebieda of the historical society.
"We're going to have native drumming and dancing, an antique auction, and we'll have a Neal Diamond tribute band with an 11-piece orchestra," added the historical society's Tracy Pearson.
The tribute band will take the stage from 7-9 p.m.
A number of speakers who've written several books focusing on local traditions and history will also be on hand throughout the event, which wraps up after the band. You're encouraged to bring your own seats, but you won't have to shell out any cash for the event, which is free to the public.
