BROOKE COUNTY, W.Va.  - Brooke County officials want to see more than 300 rundown properties torn down.
They aren't buildings that are just abandoned -- they've become a place for metal theft, drug use and vandalism.
"Most of the properties that have been left have been stripped of copper and wiring and things like that over a period of time," said Rich Ferguson of the Dilapidated Buildings Committee.
Some of these places are also a spot for drug use and other things that police officers have had to crack down on.
"It needs to go away," Ferguson said. "A lot of these need to go away."
They've spent more than a year trying to get to that point with help from commissioners and others.
Officials say this will be an ongoing project until all the properties are cleared out and torn down.
