Breakfast with Jim Tressel set for Toronto HS

Updated: Wednesday, February 19 2014, 03:38 PM EST

TORONTO, Ohio – Tickets are on sale for a community breakfast for charity at Toronto High School, featuring former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel as a guest.

The event will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 in the cafeteria. Priced at $20 each, 250 tickets were originally available, though more than half have been sold.  The breakfast was organized to raise funds for the Jefferson County Unit of the American Cancer Society and the Tressel Family Cancer Fund.

Toronto football coach Eric Meek says the event is important to him – and Tressel. Meek lost his mother to cancer and Tressel lost both of his parents to the deadly disease.

"Coach Tressel, with his status, has the ability to reach out and influence a lot of people,” Meek said. “And despite his success over his 25-year coaching career, a lot of success on the football field, that is nothing compared to all the money that he and his wife Ellen (have) raised not only for cancer, but so many charities throughout the entire country."

For tickets, call (330) 831-1284.
