OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. - Roads were shut down, power lines were down and some businesses and homeowners had a mess on their hands Wednesday morning after heavy rains resulted in flash flooding in Ohio County.
The Woodsdale area took the brunt of the water, primarily on U.S. 40 between T.J.'s and Hardee's, where National Road was shut down after deep water backed up. Police diverted drivers, making it hard to get around, especially for the parents dropping their kids off to school at Wheeling Country Day.
The creek there remains high after its banked overflowed Wednesday morning. Business owners became worried when the rain came down hard and fast and that's because it's an area that has been known to flood.
Also reported were power lines down on Dixons Run. No injuries were reported.
