Funds needed to open Bellevue Pool

Updated: Tuesday, February 25 2014, 10:06 PM EST

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio – While last year’s fundraiser event to keep the Bellevue pool open was a success, it is unclear how successful this year’s fundraiser will be.

“It’s so important for our young people to have a place of recreation, not just the MLK center, but in the summer we need that pool to be open” said Sandi Rue, Director of Steubenville Parks and Recreation.

Steubenville, along with many cities across the nation, has seen a huge cut in the city budget, which means there is not a lot of money left for parks and recreation.

The Bellevue pool needs more than $60,000 to open this summer. The “Save Our Pool” committee is asking residents in the area to help raise that money through a number of different fundraising programs.
