Updated: Monday, August 4 2014, 10:45 PM EDT

Powhatan Point, OH

A man faces a laundry list of charges after an altercation with a police officer on Saturday night.

It happened at the Powhatan Point Marina around 11:30 p.m.

According to investigators Powhatan Point Patrolman Chase Maffe arrived at the marina after he was advised that an intoxicated man was attempting to load his boat.

When Maffe arrived he says he found the man, Jeffery Anderson, in his boat and clearly intoxicated.

When Maffe asked Anderson to leave the boat he refused and started it instead.

Maffe then tased Anderson but it did little to stop him as he accelerated, but what he didn’t realize was that the boat was still tied to the dock.

He attempted a few times to throttle the boat but was unsuccessful.

Maffe says he was concerned he was going to fall into the water but after a while the boat shut off and a stand-off ensued.

Maffe says Anderson continued to defy his orders and at on several occasions fell, sustaining multiple injuries.

Maffe eventually got him into custody and charged him with felony obstructing, resisting arrest, reckless operation of a vessel, and failure to comply, among others.

Anderson has bonded out of jail in the time since the incident.
