Pothole Patrol: Hitting Jefferson County roads

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio --

NEWS9’s Pothole Patrol segment took our crews throughout Jefferson County on Monday.

The first route of the day was Lovers Lane. NEWS9 has had quite a few complaints come in from this section of Steubenville. It was fairly bumpy, but overall, not as bad as it has been earlier this winter. We are told crews were able to do some patching over the weekend.

Our next stop was Commercial Ave. in Mingo Junction. It started out rough near Route 151, smoothed out a bit into downtown thanks to some patching work, but then it got bad again getting onto Route 7.

The last stop was Lawson Ave. Most of the drive was not bad at all, except one spot. One section of roadway had several large potholes; so big, cones were sitting within them forcing drivers to move to the other side of the road.

Steubenville City Manager Tim Boland told NEWS9 he isn't sure when Lawson will be fixed, but he did say crews will be out daily getting to all the potholes as quickly as possible.

He also said the city will be setting aside some extra money for Lovers Lane in 2014 to focus on what he called “enhanced” maintenance. Those details are expected to be discussed at Tuesday’s budget meeting.
