BELLAIRE, Ohio --

We're learning more details about Tuesday night's crash along Route 7 in Bellaire involving two police cruisers. That crash sending four people to the hospital -- two officers and two prisoners.

Bellaire Police Chief Mike Kovalyk told NEWS9 is all started around 10 p.m. as a fight around Franklin Street.

According to Kovalyk, Amber Preston and Christopher Bennett were the ones arrested in that fight. First, they were taken to a local hospital to be cleared to be taken to jail. At the hospital and on the way to the jail, each one in a separate car, they were allegedly acting up and being combative.

Preston had to be tased by Ofc. Mike Wheeler and NEWS9 was told Bennett was spitting at Lt. John Watson. After Bennett allegedly made death threats towards Lt. Watson and his family, he stopped the car and that's when Wheeler ran into them along the on-ramp to Route 7 from 48th Street.

"It's tragic. We've got two cruisers that were totaled, but the main thing is that we don't believe anyone was seriously injured. Bellaire police department will get through this," Kovalyk said.

All four individuals were taken to OVMC and the crash is being investigated by Ohio State Highway Patrol.
