Vacant house catches fire in Chester

HANCOCK COUNTY, W.Va.


A vacant house caught on fire Sunday afternoon in on Church Ally in Chester.


The fire was contained and extinguished in 30 minutes.  


The call came in around one o’clock this afternoon from a neighbor who saw smoke coming from the Chester home.


The owner of the home was remodeling parts of the house to prepare for the people who planned on moving in tomorrow.


The fire started in the basement and then spread up the stairs to both the first and second floors of the home.


No injuries were reported and the cause is still unknown.


Chester, Lawrenceville, and Newell fire departments all responded to the scene.
