Crews battle brush fire in Marshall County

MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va – Fire crews responded to a brush fire in Moundsville, Marshall County, that rekindled this evening near Highland Avenue.

The fire originally started Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

At 4 p.m. officials said the fire rekindled and forced crews to return to the scene.

The fire started in the area north of Highland Avenue in Moundsville and moved into the area of Pars Run and the lower area of Grandview Park.

The West Virginia Division of Forestry estimates that around 10 acres burned.

Crews from Moundsville, Limestone, Washington Lands, Glen Dale, McMechen and Benwood were all on the scene.

At this time, it is unclear how the initial fire started.
