MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va.--

A Marshall County man is facing serious charges after deputies say he pointed a gun at a man's head, fired it above that man's head, and made a threat.

Michael Eric Mason, 43, is charged with wanton endangerment.

According to a criminal complaint, Mason and another man were talking at a graduation party Monday night when Mason got angry.

The complaint states, "A man believed he and Mason were joking around so he advised Mason that he was tough as a $2 steak. Mason replied he was tougher than shoe leather."

Deputies said Mason then allegedly pulled a gun from his waist, cocked it and aimed it at the man's head.

Officers said he then fired the gun above the man's head and told him, "That was a warning shot."

Reports indicate party-goers began to scream and a young woman tried to put the gun away, but police say Mason got angry.

Reports state, "he head-butted the woman and punched her in the face--she then left the party."

Mason was arraigned in front of a Marshall County magistrate and is free on $1,500 bond.
