Benwood and McMechen police along with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office responded to Roosevelt Avenue in Benwood Tuesday after they received a call that Michael Dotson, 45, had locked himself inside a home on Roosevelt Avenue and threatened to harm a boy inside with a hatchet.

When police arrived, they talked to neighbors and those who live inside and said that Dotson would also harm police if they got closer.

Dotson refused to open any windows or unlock any doors. That is when the Marshall County Sheriff's Office broke down the door and used a Taser to arrest Dotson.

Knives and a flashlight were also found inside the room.

A victim stated that Dotson changed the locks to the garage and the house and even chased another person with an ax.

Dotson was charged with domestic battery and two counts of assault, all misdemeanors.
