OHIO COUNTY, W.Va.—

American Electric Power said that a broken pole and blown transformer caused about 1,500 to be without power in Ohio County early Wednesday morning.

About 400 customers in the Sand Hill area of Marshall County were without power, too.

Spokesperson Carmen Prati-Miller said that crews are working to fix the problem and power restoration is estimated to be around 2 p.m.

Students at Middle Creek Elementary were taken via bus to Bridge Street Middle School because of the outage and school was canceled at Sand Hill Elementary in Marshall County.

Ohio Co. power restoration expected by 2 p.m.
