Road closed following accident with truck carrying hazardous material

MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. – A tanker truck carrying hazardous material collided with a car on W.Va. 2 just north of Fish Creek road on Tuesday in Moundsville.
The crash, which happened between the CertainTeed Gypsum Plant and the Kammer Mitchell Plant just after 6 p.m., led to a chemical leak out of the tanker and an evacuation up to a half-mile from the scene.
One person was transported by medical helicopter to a local hospital.
Several agencies responded, including the Belmont County Salvation Army.
They were called to support this emergency disaster and to help anyone else in need, including officials.
“Our goal is to do the most good in the communities that we serve and this is one of the goals we have is that helping people in situations like this,” Major Louis Patrick of the Salvation Army said.
The road remained close into Wednesday morning.
