MONROE COUNTY, Ohio – The community is celebrating a brand new school building in the Switzerland of Ohio school district.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for River Elementary School was held Tuesday.
Students, staff and the community members gathered in gym to celebrate and say thanks for everyone’s hard work.
The school bond levy that was passed in 2009 gave the district the opportunity to fund seven projects.
River Elementary was the second-to-last project to be completed, but Principal Rob Caldwell says it was worth the wait.
“Everything is updated,” he said. “You know if you go back to some of our buildings, you would trip over a bucket because there was a leak in one of our roofs or something. So I mean to be in these new buildings, not just here at River Elementary or not just the renovation project at River High School, but everywhere throughout the district.”
The building is more up to date with better technology for students to take advantage of.
