WHEELING, W.Va.— Steven Clay Kyle, Jr. admitted Thursday to shooting his friend after a late night argument on Wheeling Island in September 2013.
Kyle, of Cleveland, pleaded guilty to malicious assault and was sentenced to 2-10 years in prison.
Wheeling Police said they were called to 22 Vermont Street on September 21, around 4 a.m. after getting many calls of gunshots being fired.
When police got there, they were flagged down by the victim. A 27-year-old man also from Cleveland was shot multiple times in his upper body.
Residents were put on high alert after the shooting because Kyle fled the scene and was considered “armed and dangerous.”
Kyle’s victim was not in court, but Kyle apologized Thursday for his actions and said he has learned his lesson. He also pointed out that the crime was his first felony.
