OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. – A couple of places have opened within the last few months at the Highlands and word came this week that even more are on their way.
Chairman of the Ohio County Development Authority Randy Wharton confirmed a California-based company developing a part of the Highlands -- United Growth -- purchased a seven-tenant building.
“There is an extreme high probability," according to Wharton, of stores on the way, including Kay Jewelers, GNC, Great Clips, a Sprint store, a mattress firm, and a Five Guys Burgers & Fries coming to the area, and a seventh tenant is still being negotiated.
In total, the development authority has purchased $2.5 million in property for development of new business and growth. Recently, Mooey's Frozen Yogurt Shop opened at the Highlands, and Primanti Brothers is under construction.
