WHEELING, WVa.--

Carenbauer Distributing is giving away two $5000 scholarships to the spouses and children of soldiers killed or disabled in service to our country.

Carenbauers serves Marshall and Ohio counties, but anyone in the Ohio Valley can apply. The Folds of Honor Foundation's mission is to ensure no family is left behind.

Carenbauer Corporation president Carl Carenbauer says the company has been donating money for years to the group through beer sales, but now would like to see someone from the area get more out of the scholarship.

"How much more important could it get—helping someone who is disabled in the war or their family member has been killed—you can't do much better than that,” said Carenbauer.

Carenbauer heard about the scholarship at a convention for Anheuser-Bush.

“It was touching a lady who’s husband was killed at war was there and we wanted to do more,” said Carenbauer.

He says he'd like to give the scholarships away on an appropriate day-- like July 4, but people must apply now.

You can apply by heading to the Folds of Honor website at foldsofhonor.org or visit carenbauers.com.
