Updated: Wednesday, February 26 2014, 10:36 AM EST

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va.  – One of the doctors from News9’s “I’m Taking You to the Doctor” series is receiving honors for his work at a local medical school.

He’s Dr. Mark Kissinger, and he’s being recognized for his work at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. The school’s clinical program has also received national notice.

Each year students at the school award a physician for their training services during clinical rotations. Kissinger was nominated by the outgoing class of 2013 as primary care physician of the year.

“Dr. Kissinger personally is a friend, a fine gentleman, and a great physician,” said Ralph Wood, regional dean of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. “Students love rotating with him. The wealth of knowledge Dr. Kissinger has and the commitment to his patients and his profession goes without saying.”

Kissinger, who is also a family physician at Trinity Health System, has been training third-year physicians at the school from more than four years. The school is ranked nationally for its medical training.
