Ohio Valley opposes portrayal on 'Criminal Minds'

Updated: Thursday, April 3 2014, 05:40 PM EDT

WHEELING, W.Va. - There was strong reaction in the Ohio Valley after Wednesday night's episode of the CBS show "Criminal Minds."

The plot, based in Wheeling, included a number of negative West Virginia stereotypes, including family feuds and incest.

A number of the people NEWS9 caught up with Wednesday were offended and say CBS owes the city and state an apology.

"I don't even live here anymore, but this is my hometown, and I think it's ridiculous," said John McNulte. "I think it's fight time."

Added Glen Dale's Rick Zervos: "If they just come for a week or a day and talk to the people and see what we do, they wouldn't portray us like they did last night."

CBS has not responded to the outrage.
