WHEELING, W.Va. --

Wheeling police are investigating a death that happened just before Thanksgiving.

Amy Ring-Jackson, 39, was found dead on Nov. 24 at the Maplewood Apartments on 29th Street in South Wheeling.

Two days before, her husband was arrested on charges of domestic violence and malicious assault.

Police say Adrian Jackson, 36, was arrested after he allegedly punched her in the face, causing facial injuries and sending her to the hospital.

Wheeling Police Chief Shawn Schwertfeger said he doesn't believe Ring-Jackson's death is related to those injuries.

"We're investigating it as an unattended death, but I wouldn't say the injuries from that assault are the cause of death," said Schwertfeger.

Ring-Jackson's body has been sent to the medical examiner's officer for an autopsy.

Adrian Jackson is not charged in connection with his wife's death, however he is in jail for charges related to the alleged domestic violence and malicious assault.

Schwertfeger said this is the third time Jackson has been arrested on domestic battery charges. His bond is set at $40,000.
