32nd annual Ohio Valley Italian Festival is underway

The 32nd annual Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival is underway in Wheeling.

Friday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with U.S. Senator Joe Manchin and other leaders on hand.

The event started Friday morning and runs until Sunday at Heritage Port.

This year’s festival honoree is Robert Gaudio. Gaudio was festival chair for several years and has made significant contributions to the Wheeling community.

Lots of entertainment is on tap for this year’s festival including Pittsburgh’s famous Rat Pack, The Joseph Sisters, the Big Show and many more.

Other attractions include amusement rides, a wine bar, a bocce tournament, Little Italy on the north plaza, the annual Veterans Appreciation Ceremony on Saturday at noon, fireworks Saturday night, Roman Catholic Mass on Sunday by Bishop Michael Bransfield.
