BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Too many furry paws, not enough room at the Inn. That's why animal officials in Belmont County are now reaching out.
NEWS9 reported on an influx of kittens at the Belmont County Animal Rescue League in May that led to more than 30 kittens finding homes. Now, a new batch of kittens has found its way to the shelter.
"We have a lot of kitties, and we're just trying to hope to find them homes," said Candace Fleagane, the shelter’s "Cat Stray Shun" program coordinator. "We find them; we have people in bringing them in.”
Kittens of every color -- and personality -- are taking up room and board at the shelter.
As staff members try to meet their needs, 12 kittens are ready to go. They've already been spayed, neutered, feline leukemia tested and given them their first shot -- and revolution.
But it's not just about the kittens. There are a slew of adult cats patiently waiting for a home. Fleagane said the shelter’s mature felines would also make a great addition to any property with some room to roam.
"If someone had a barn or a tack room that was willing to feed them and give them that warm place to live, they would love it," Fleagane said.
If you or your family is interested in one or more of these kittens or cats, fill out an application at the shelter or online, at: http://www.bcarl.net or call 740-338-9339. It's $50 per kitten, with spay or neuter and first shot included. Adult cats are $25.
