Car chase leads to man behind bars

WHEELING, W.Va. - One man has been arrested after officials with the Wheeling Police Department say he stolen a vehicle and then lead them on a brief chase.


Officials say an officer took a stolen vehicle report just after 2 a.m. Monday. Then another officer spotted that vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver refused to stop the stolen vehicle and began fleeing through downtown Wheeling. The vehicle then traveled into Ohio, where the driver stopped the vehicle on I-70 westbound and attempted to flee on foot.
After a foot pursuit, the driver, 18-year-old Raymond Cordell Asbury IV was captured and arrested by Ohio authorities.

In Belmont County, Asbury is facing charges of receiving stolen property and failure to comply order police officer.


Asbury will be face additional charges in West Virginia once extradited back into the state.
