CARROLL COUNTY, Ohio – Carroll County law enforcement leaders met with the state’s top law enforcer, Attorney General Mike Dewine, on Tuesday.
The subject? Heroin.
The Carroll County Sherriff, assistant prosecutor, prosecutor, the city’s police chief, and members of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation met with Dewine, saying the one thing they need help with is prevention and education.
That’s something the attorney general’s office is more than ready to help with.
“If we are really going to slow this thing down, if we are going to beat it, we have to reach more and more young people,” Dewine said. “(We have to) let them understand the great danger of heroin. That’s done through education, it’s done through prevention. And the best way it’s done is through grassroots groups."
“We want to crack down on that,” Carroll County Sheriff Dale Williams said. “We've convicted a lot of people in the last 10 years, and we want to keep on doing that and clean up the heroin problem.”
Carroll County authorities also told Dewine they’ve seen an uptick in cybercrimes, too. Dewine said his office would more than happy to assist with that as well.
