Updated: Thursday, August 7 2014, 05:54 PM EDT

WHEELING, W.Va.--

The Celebrate Youth Festival was held at Wheeling Park’s Memorial Rink on Thursday.

Thousands of people were in attendance from across the Ohio Valley.

The event is to show kids and their parents the different agencies available year-round.

Mike Toothman, with Youth Services Systems, said they want people to realize that all these groups are here to help.

“Celebrate Youth is to show them all the resources available and to help kids become successful,” said Toothman.

The event also offered free admission to park activities, a cookout, music, face-painting, inflatables and more.

Following the festival a dinner is being held Thursday night.

The dinner will honor James and Linda Bordas as the 2014 Good Samaritans at their seventh annual Good Samaritan Tribute Dinner at the White Palace Ballroom.

"They have made a lot of contributions to help kids and different organizations, some very quietly, and we want to recognize all they have done," said Toothman.
