MARSHALL COUNTY, W.Va. -- A Marshall County teacher has admitted to attempting to kiss a student and pursue a relationship. David Duane Will, Jr., 32, appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor battery.
According to a criminal complaint, Will told the teenager she was beautiful, he missed her and repeatedly tried to contact her through social media before he attacked her on April 9.
The incident was reported to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and the Marshall County Board of Education.
The girl's sister also told deputies she witnessed the incident.
Will is still listed as a Social Studies teacher on John Marshall High School's website.
Reports indicate a computer was seized and his Facebook and Twitter account were deactivated.
Marshall County Schools Superintendent Michael Hince said Will is on unpaid leave and the Board of Education will review the matter again following Tuesday’s proceedings.
