Inaugural Taylor Dowdle Golf Outing a success

Updated: Sunday, July 20 2014, 05:30 PM EDT

CADIZ, Ohio -

The first annual Taylor J. Dowdle Scholarship Golf Outing was held Saturday at the Cadiz Country Club.

The golf tournament was held in honor of the 16-year-old whose life was claimed in a tragic car crash back in March and to raise money for the Taylor J. Dowdle Scholarship Fund.

The scholarship was established in memory of Dowdle and to raise awareness of driving safety while helping teens achieve their goals.

Ron Tweedy is a board member for the foundation and he said they saw a great turnout Saturday with 26 teams, 104 golfers.

“The communities rallied around it and her father and mother have started a foundation that we have picked up on to give scholarships to students at Harrison Central in her honor,” Tweedy said.

Tweedy said they plan on holding the golf tournament every year and they hope to raise enough money for 2 students to receive scholarships each year.
