HANCOCK COUNTY, Ohio -- You may have noticed signs going up in Newell for Hancock County Auto.
The dealership will open its doors Monday. The site sits along Washington Street in the heart of town. Officials say the dealership is a sister store to Beaver County Auto in Pennsylvania.
"Chrysler, after the last dealership closed, they had decided, like GM and Ford, they weren’t going to have a franchise here any longer, but because the group that has purchased the place – Beaver County Chrysler – they have what Chrysler considers a model store,” said sales manager Sean Broadbent, “When that group approached them, kind of in cooperation with Pat Ford and the (Business Development Corporation) of Northern West Virginia, they said, ‘wait a while now, we didn’t know you guys were interested, you're a good fit for that community.’ "
"All-in-all, it took about a total of eight months get it to put it all together, but we're here, and we’re happy to be here,” added Rob Cellini, GM of Hancock County Auto. “And we’re looking for bigger and better things for Newell and Hancock County.
Hancock County Auto also purchased the old Oak Glen football field from the BDC of the Northern Panhandle.
Officials with the company say it will be a future site but they were quick to point out that the Memorial Wall will stay.
