Investigators asking for clues after body was found

Updated: Tuesday, September 2 2014, 08:55 AM EDT

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Ohio—Police are investigating after a body was found in St. Clair Township in Columbiana County over the weekend.

The St. Clair Township police department responded to a report of a dead body early Saturday morning.

St. Clair Township’s Police Chief Donald Hyatt said, "We were notified sometime Saturday, sometime around 7:30 in the morning regarding a body on Grimms Bridge Road. In the beginning patrol officers arrived and then our detectives arrived."

When officers arrived, they found 38-year-old  Joseph Robinson lying off to the south side of the roadway near a pile of brush.

Robinson’s body was found by  a resident on Grimms Bridge Road who wishes to remain anonymous. He described the discovery as shocking and somewhat traumatic. "I  went to get a newspaper and coffee at Sheetz and when I came back down the road I thought I saw a mannequin and thought someone was playing around so went back around and I told my girlfriend and went back up to the sight where I saw that and it ended up being a body back there. So we got out of there and I went to my nephews and called the cops."

Residents have made a makeshift memorial the man.

So far, the investigation showed no signs of trauma. Investigators are still trying to determine his cause of death but they are asking anyone who may have had contact with Joseph Robinson in the last couple of days to contact the St. Clair township police department or our Crimebuster Tipline at 1-800-862-BUST.
