Local veterinarian opens alternative therapy clinic

Updated: Saturday, July 26 2014, 07:45 PM EDT

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio –

A local veterinarian is now offering something new to pet owners in the valley.

Dr. Jody Oelschlager, DVM, held a grand opening for her new clinic, Veterinary Alternative Therapy, located along Route 40 East in St. Clairsville.

Oelschlager has a general practice veterinary office in Moundsville.

The new clinic will provide acupuncture, nutritional therapy, allergy testing and physical rehabilitation therapy for pets.

They also have an underwater treadmill for dogs and cats, which is commonly used for pets that are overweight, among many other uses.

“By using the therapy with the hydro treadmill we can help them get moving again if they are not able to get up and if it’s difficult for them, maybe we can get them some rehabilitation and help them lost a little bit of weight,” Oelschalger said.

She also said that acupuncture can be used for more than just pain and she hopes this service will help many pets in the area.
