WHEELING, W.Va. -- Miss West Virginia was in Wheeling on Wednesday morning speaking to victims at Crittenton's Residential facility about violence and abuse.
Paige Madden's platform is "Silence Hides Violence: Empowering Women in Abusive Situations."
She spoke with the girls, ages 12-18 who are victims of abuse and neglect, many of them parenting or pregnant.
Madden said she was happy to speak about her personal experiences with the girls.
"Instead of teaching them how to recognize violence, I kind of want to get to know the students and hear their individual stories as well as tell my own, tell my own connection to my platform of domestic violence and violence with children," she said.
Crittenton Services is behavioral health agency serving more than 1,200 individuals and families from all 55 counties in West Virginia.
