No major flooding in Belmont County

Updated: Wednesday, August 20 2014, 01:20 PM EDT

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio – Belmont County Emergency Management Director Dave Ivan said Wednesday morning’s heavy downpours didn’t cause any major flooding concerns throughout the county, but one local business is left cleaning up.
"We're estimating anywhere between 4-5 inches of rain within the past 6 hours," Ivan said just before Noon on Wednesday. “Right now we just have some minor flooding going on, primarily because of plugged culverts, roads are getting washed out. The engineer’s office is on top of it along with the municipalities."
That's exactly what happened at Turf Care Supply Corporation at the northern end of Martins Ferry. A nearby culvert plugged up, forcing water back onto the property. Officials at the business say, luckily, there weren't any damages and cleanup was well underway.
And along National Road, there were remnants of what was high water. And most local creeks were active but not a concern.
