Updated: Saturday, July 26 2014, 07:46 PM EDT

POTTERY ADDITION, Ohio - Officials in Jefferson County are investigating a house explosion that happened along Woodmont Street in Pottery Addition on Saturday afternoon.

The call came in shortly after 3 p.m. and fire crews from Pottery Addition, Pleasant Heights and Toronto all responded to the scene, along with assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

At this time it is unclear what caused the house to explode but no injuries have been reported and crews tell NEWS9 they believe the house is vacant.

Pottery Addition Volunteer Fire Chief Donald Bell said crews would continue to dump water on the house until it was safe enough to investigate a cause.

Crews from Columbia Gas were also on the scene to help assess the damage, but it is not clear whether or not any utilities were running to the house.
