One behind bars after kidnapping attempted

WASINGTON COUNTY, PA- Pennsylvania State Police are warning area residents about an attempted kidnapping Sunday.


Officials say Jerry Linn Zgrliski attempted to kidnap and lure three young children between the ages of 4 - 10 into his truck in an alley behind Wilmington Avenue.


Officials say he was seen driving a Black Chevrolet truck through the alley and came in contact with the three young children who were playing in their yard.


Officials say he asked to children to help him locate his lost dog. He also told them, he would give them candy if they found the dog. According to the report the man then exited the vehicle and started to run after the children in an attempt to grab them.  After a failed attempted, he returned to his truck and  went home.


Officials arrested Zgrliski for attempted kidnapping, unlawful restraint, luring a child into a motor vehicle, interference with custody of children and driving a vehicle on a suspended driver's license.

Zgorliski is in Washington County jail awaiting arraignment.
