Residents forced to deal without water

Updated: Saturday, July 12 2014, 10:39 PM EDT

SCIO, Ohio - A water main break in Scio left several residents without water for more than 10 hours.

Residents in the area say this isn’t the first time this has happened, and that there have been multiple breaks over the past few years.

“It came up right here and started shooting out,” Bethany Kimble said.

Kimble said this was the third break in the past month that they have seen in Scio, with the most recent one happening in the same place as previous breaks.

Kimble believes that heavy trucks that pass through the town are to blame.

"It’s kind of getting annoying because every time they come through here they break it and then they have to come and fix it and when you're trying to go to sleep there’s a ton of noise,” Kimble said.

While it’s not immediately clear what is causing all of the breaks, city officials are working to repair them as they happen and prevent them from happening in the future.

We filed for grant money,” economic developer Bob Hendricks said. “The council, the mayor. we've had other people help out the county.”

The lines on Main Street are new but there are still many other lines throughout the city that are in need of repairs.
