JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio --  Alterik Rogers was sentenced 14 years in jail for shooting another man in Steubenville inside a Jefferson County Courtroom on Monday.
Rogers was arrested and accused of shooting Robert Washington in the leg on the evening of Jan. 4, 2014. Washington was OK and did not have to go to the hospital for his injury.
Washington explained a list of problems he had his with former neighbor, the 39-year-old Rogers who was found guilty of firing multiple shots at Washington's Jeep Cherokee around 6 p.m. on Jan. 4. Two witnesses claimed they heard the shots and saw a white car when it happened.
Through his defense attorney, Rogers denied all of those allegations during trial. A tape of Rogers, recorded after the incident by police officers, features Rogers describing what happened that night. He said he was on his way to buy marijuana when he heard gun shots. That's when he said he got scared and got out of his car to see if anyone was shot. He says he was so startled that he left his car parked right near the crime scene.
